Rashaad Abdur-Rahman serves as Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer’s director of the Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods. He has worked in the field of child and family mental health services since 2004 in various roles, including direct care counselor, case manager, therapist, consultant, trainer, supervisor, and professor. Abdur-Rahman also volunteers with the Race, Community and Child Welfare Advisory Board and guest lectures at Berea College, Western Governors University, University of Louisville, and University of Kentucky. Committed to social and racial justice, he works with community leaders to develop training opportunities for others to learn about effectively addressing injustices and creating more equitable organizations that produce outcomes in everyone’s best interests. Abdur-Rahman received his bachelor’s in psychology from Berea College and his master’s in science and social work from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work in 2008.
