What do I need to do before attending the event on April 21, 2022?
All students and educators please be sure that you take the following steps before April 21:
The Aspen Institute regards the health and safety of its staff and participants as our highest priority and is committed to doing its part to end the COVID-19 pandemic. For events in Florida, all attendees will be required to take a COVID-19 rapid test within 24 hours of the event and show a negative result before entry, and wear a mask, UNLESS you elect to volunteer your vaccine status via the Return Safe App. The Aspen Institute will provide access to a rapid antigen test, and supply all participants with a mask. Please see the Resource Page for Return Safe App Instructions where you can volunteer your vaccination information and upload your negative test result.
Guests who are unvaccinated or prefer to not share their vaccination status will be required to wear a mask at all times, except when actively eating and drinking. We will provide masks when you arrive at the event.
Florida International University – Graham Center Ballroom The address is: 11200 SW 8 Street, Miami, FL 33199.
There will be two schools sharing a bus based on the geographic location of your school to the venue. Coaches will receive their exact bus departure time the week of April 11 via an email from Olivia, and the schedule will be posted in Google Classroom. You will likely be picked up between 7-7:45am, and return to the school between 7:30-7:45pm.
Come with an open mind and be present! Listen to your peers present their solutions and support the hard work that they’ve accomplished over the last 8 weeks. Also, be sure to have fun!
In the unfortunate event that a student team member or coach is unable to attend the event, we will send you directly to the viewing platform for the event on April 21.
Yes! There will be an option to have you join your team’s presentation virtually during the judge Q&A time frame. Please be sure to inform your coach if you will be participating remotely, and we will ensure you have access to the platform for remote participation.
Yes, a recording of the event will be available Tuesday, April 26 following the event and posted on www.aspenchallenge.org.
Please contact us at aspenchallenge@aspeninstitute.org and we can connect you with either the speaker or a representative from their organization to help answer any questions you may have about the challenge or the topic area.
All guests and judges please RSVP by emailing Cara Minardi at cara.minardi@aspeninstitute.org. Most importantly, we ask that you volunteer your vaccination information via the ReturnSafe App. Please note, all attendees will be required to take a COVID-19 rapid test at the entrance of the event and show a negative result before entry, and wear a mask, UNLESS you elect to volunteer your vaccine status via the Return Safe App. The rapid test will be conducted by a registered nurse and covered by the Aspen Institute.
